James Monroe Francis, 88, passed November 29, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Monroe was born in Hazard, Kentucky to Jason and Rhoda (Morris) Francis on November 24, 1933.
Monroe was a veteran of the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He served from August 11, 1953 until July 2, 1957. He was a retired from Rainbow Bakery and an active member of the Baking and Confectionery Workers Union. He loved boating, fishing, and being outdoors. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed donating to the no-kill shelters of Cincinnati.
Monroe was preceded in death by his parents Jason and Rhoda Francis, sisters Christine, Georgia, and Stella; brothers Burl, Burt, and Scott.
Monroe is survived by his wife of 60 years Natomi (Keeton) Francis, daughter Michelle Francis, grandaughters Danielle Reed and Sara Reed, and brothers in law Lawton Keeton, Terry Adkins, and Jerry Adkins. As well as, a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside interment for family will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being made by Walker Funeral Home.
