Diane Edwards Obituary

Diane M. Edwards was born November 23, 1960 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Carlena (nee Goodson) Edwards and James Martin.

She was educated in Cincinnati Public Schools and San Francisco Public Schools.  She studied Criminal Justice at San Francisco State.  A true entrepreneurial spirit, Diane had many business ventures including a store, and a female paint crew.  She was very creative and wrote poetry, plays and song lyrics.

Diane accepted Christ at a young age and later recommitted her life in 2003 at Truth & Destiny Covenant Ministries Fellowship UCC.  She was a founding member of the church and was an ordained Deacon.  She served faithfully both the church and the Northside neighborhood through coordinating a monthly meal at C.A.I.N-Phil’s Place, teaching Vacation Bible School, and organizing a Back to School Block party .  She was most committed to her role at the Destiny Kid’s Summer Camp, where she made sure every camper was encouraged, recognized and rewarded.  She loved the kids!

She loved helping people and gave without complaining to anyone in need.  She was a fixture in Northside, cruising on her “Cadillac” with her Blues or Gospel tunes glaring as she rolled down Hamilton Avenue to Chase stopping in Supreme Cuts to see her favorite barber, Gerald, picking up wings from NYPD, medicine from Schaffer’s, rolling through KFC drive-thru or checking on her money at Northside Bank. She was the “ Mayor of Northside” always introducing family and friends to new businesses in the neighborhood.

To many she was “Auntie Diane”, offering love, support, words of wisdom: “THINK, FOCUS, PAY ATTENTION”… “if you owe a man, pay that man”, “if I tell you a duck can pull a truck, hook it up” and “PUSH: Pray Until Something Happens”.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, four siblings: Douglas Edwards, Ted Edwards, Ann Edwards, and  Jenice Edwards, and a very special nephew Jason Miller.

She transitioned from this life on January 20, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She will be missed dearly and cherished by her, wife Laticia Givens Edwards, son and daughter-in-love, Charles Anthony Edwards (Towanda), three step-children: Kierra Givens, Janea Belcher, Keron Givens, one granddaughter Anayah Parson; one grandson Ever Holmes, two great-grandsons: Ace Parsons and Kanin Barnes; two sisters: Louveena Edwards and Mary Edwards; four brothers: Donald Edwards (Nancy), Gregory Edwards, LeAndrew Edwards and Anthony Edwards; special sister friends: Jeanette Carter (Ed), Pat Lyles, Anita Johnson, Pastor Lesley Jones (Pastor Noni), a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
