Val "Butch" Gene "Butch" Coleman

Val Gene Coleman, better known as "Butch" was born September 15, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Shirley Ann and Cleon Owens Green.  

He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at St. Mark Catholic Church.

He graduated from Purcell High School and attended the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.

Butch had a vision of satellite radio before it was founded.  He loved radio  broadcasting and worked at various radio stations in Cincinnati, WCIN, WSAI and WNOP.  He also worked at radio stations in Jacksonville, Florida, St. Louis, California and Chicago (WBMX).  He was a mentor of many who pursued a career in radio broadcasting.  

Butch loved playing tennis, cooking, remodeling houses, plumbing, shopping, dogs, baseball and jazz.  He enjoyed playing the saxaphone and piano and even took weekly piano lessons later in life.  Oh and we cannot forget how much Butch loved Frisch's Big Boys and White Castles.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Cleon Green; grandparents, Alexander and Elizabeth Head and uncle, Harold Waller.

He departed this life on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Indianspring of Oakley.  

To celebrate and cherish his memories he leaves: two sisters, Tanya Green and Sharon (Jerry) Givens; two nephews, Adrian Williams and Shawn Coleman; two uncles, James Head and Paul Head; close friends, Kirk Townsend, Pat and Sharon from Chicago, Marty and Rita Green from North Carolina, Derik Clay, Lavenia Huff, Cheryl Yarbrough, Pat Thomas, Kenny Jones and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll n ever part.
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
