Rose Sanders Obituary

Rose Mary Sanders in all her elegance was born on February 23, 1957 to Maurice Oliver and Agnes Mary Frances Sanders, both proceeded her in death when Rose was a young child. Rose known to friends and family as “Rosanna Danna” was called by the Lord to take her wings on August 20, 2020 at University Hospital. Rose leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy. A devotes husband Michael Smith, three blessed children Daughter Nikia Sanders, Son Michael Sanders and her pride and joy Morris Sanders.

Rose had several grandchildren to carry on her legacy: Mikael, Keenan, Amaya, Morijae, Wil J, Kala and Raekwan.  She also leaves two brothers Kenneth Sanders and Darrell Sanders. Four nephews: Kenneth Jr, Landon Jr and Clayton. Two nieces: Dionne (DJ) and Demeka. Many others who considered her to be like a mother and sister to them.  A host of family members and friends that Rose loved dearly, and they loved her back.  Special thanks to Cousin Jackie White-Meade who helped to care for her in her last days. Rose never met a stranger, she smiled and talked to everyone. She loved to travel, cook, sew, and cannot forget she loved to play her numbers daily. Often, she shared her winning numbers with others.

Rose attended Heinold School as a young child and later graduated from Quarter Tech High School in1975.  Awhile in school, she took up sewing and design. She often made clothes for herself and her children when they were little.  Rose loved fashion. She made the best macaroni and cheese and chess pies on the west side of town. Rose loved traveling with her husband Mike especially on the Casino boat trips. Together they traveled all over New York city, Memphis, New Orleans, and Chicago just to name a few. Besides cooking and traveling, Rose enjoyed dancing. Often called the life of the party wherever she went. Rose worked as a Supervisor in housekeeping. She retired once her health began to fail. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She re-dedicated her life to Christ about 10 years ago. She was baptized by Pastor D. Rice of Zoe ministries. Along with cooking, traveling, dancing and fashion, Rose enjoyed spending time with her husband, and family and friends. Rose always stated how “Shob” she was when she went places.  Always looking nice wearing the latest fashions when she left home. Rose was a happy, upbeat person always smiling. Some of the doctors and nurses that were treating her through her journey with cancer stated that she was one of their favorite patients.

Although she smiled a lot, do not be fooled because she would not hesitate to throw a punch or two and tell you where you can go. She would put in your place quickly, even if she were the one that was wrong!

Rose and she smiles will be missed dearly by many.
