Michael Ward was born in Cincinnati, OH. Dec. 8th, 1964 as the seventh child of Clarence & Catherine Ward. He was raised in a home that focused on God first, hard work, be yourself and be glad you are black!
Time to Learn: Education: Rockdale Elementary, Merry Jr. High, Hughes High School, Graduating Class of 1983, Vocational Training: Commercial Arts
Time to share purpose: Gift and Talents: As a youth he participated in the Cincinnati Boys Choirs and was a prize swimmer for the Blair Recreation Center. His passion for music led him to become a skilled lead guitarist focusing on Rhythm, Blues, and Jazz. He performed in a couple of Cincinnati's OTR Jazz clubs. Michael enjoyed going to musical concerts and school reunions with his sisters & brothers. He was a part of a band with his brother-in-law Cliff (Duke) and nephew Ronnie. They would come together and play songs like "I Wanna Groove with You" and "On Broadway", The Band was affectionally called "Who Pooted?"
Sport Interest: Martial Arts, Rachet Ball and was faithful to body building and working out. Michael took pride in keeping himself physically fit, dressing sharp, and smelling good.
Time to share: Occupation: He secured jobs as a Meat Butcher, spending several years at the Avondale )&W here in Cincinnati OH, He held a supervisor role for many years at the Snapping Shoals ENC in Atlanta Georgia. He was well respected and like by his superiors and staff that he served. Michael moved from Cincinnati OH to Atlanta Georgia where he was able to gain a more prosperous life. He later returns to Cincinnati to spent time with his dad & mom.
Time to Love: Michael; tall, dark, and handsome, fell in love and married Ms. Grace Sims Ward of Atlanta Georgia. He would call his sisters and say that he became very sick in Atlanta and this pretty woman nursed him back to health and she will be wifey, his Georgia peach! To this union was born their son Mr. Mikael Hassan Ward. A young man after his own heart whom Michael would always speak on Mick's abilities to get any task accomplished. Michael later married (Jackie) before returning back to Cincinnati as single,
Time to rest from his labor: Michael affectionally named as Cincinnati's "Smoke" and Georgia's "Baby Boy" rest with his dad Clarence Ward and leave to reflect in his memories: His Mom Mrs. Catherine Ward. His son Mr. Mi'kael H. Ward. Brothers: Clarence Ward, tr., Fredrick (Gwendolyn), Perry, Daren (Lorretta), Hasson (Rose). Sisters: Janet, Gail (Clifford) Joiner, Sandra, Phyliss Ward, and a host of nieces and nephews, His close long-term childhood friend Mr. Bernard (Bernie) Mundy, along with good buddies and friends.
Precious memories of Michael: Fine black man, serious, caring and hard-working. Michael you may be out of our presence, but you are forever in Our hearts.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter the service and social distancing must be practiced. Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
