Michael Lorenzo Smith, Sr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Eddie and Felisha Smith. He was one of four children, with one sister, Raeshondra Smith, and two brothers, Antwan Smith and Christopher Smith. They were raised in the heart of Cincinnati by their mother.

Michael, affectionately known as "Mike," attended Western Hills High School and later chose a career as a cook, where he discovered his passion for preparing authentic meals for others.

In 1998, Michael met Tammy while they were working together. After dating for two years, they were married on January 5, 2000, forming a blended family. Michael had two children, Darnell Hunter and April Hunter. Tammy also had two children, Kamara Harris and Lamonte Price. Together, they were blessed with four additional children: Kayla Smith, Kaya Smith, Michael Smith, Jr., and Katora Smith.

Michael accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2007 and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at River of Life Church by Pastor Kareem Smith. As an active member, he participated in men's Bible study and served on the building maintenance team, where he found joy in helping others.

Michael enjoyed watching football with his son and grandchild, and his favorite team was the Cincinnati Bengals. He was known for his warm spirit, heart of gold, and beautiful smile. He cherished spending time with his family and enjoying home-cooked meals.

At the time of his passing, Michael was surrounded by his wife and children at their home.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Smith; his mother, Felisha Smith; and his brother, Antwan Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Tammy Smith; his children, Darnell Hunter, April Hunter, Kayla Smith, Kaya Smith, Michael Smith, Jr., and Katora Smith; his stepchildren, Lamonte Price and Kamara Harris; his sister, Raeshondra Smith; his brother, Christopher Smith; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Michael's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati  (45206).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation,  beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
