Marian Izetta Mitchell was born on Wednesday, September 4, 1935, to the late Marian Moore and Willam Powell Sr. She was born and raised in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Marian departed due to natural causes and was called home on Friday, April 2, 2021.
Marian was the firstborn child to both her mother and father. As a child, Marian grew up in the church where she enjoyed playing the piano. Marian attended the Old Woodward High School that was located in Downtown Cincinnati.
Marian was such a beautiful person with such an amazing uplifting spirit. She was very outgoing and always fun to be around. Marian loved to travel, dance, march, play cards for fun but don't think for a second she wouldn't play to take your money and listen to music. In fact, Marian's favorite song was "All My Life" by KC & Jojo that she shared with her granddaughter Miranda. Most importantly Marian loved to play her numbers with the Ohio Lottery.
Marian was a member of Lincoln Heights Elks Lounge for over 50 years. As a member Marian traveled, marched in parades, and partied on all kinds of cruise ships. Marian was the "Daughter Ruler", over all the women. She was also a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Marian was a people person. She worked for Cincinnati Public Schools for over 50 years. She worked at Bond Hill Elementary and later Woodward High School. She retired and went to work for Harmony Courts Nursing Home for over 10 years then later a second retirement.
Marian was married to the love of her life, Roosevelt Mitchell. Together they were inseparable. Marian was a loving devoted mother to 7 children and 1 step-daughter.
Marian was preceded in death by her mother Marian Moore; father William Powell Sr; Husband Roosevelt Mitchell; Son Steven Trice; brother William Powell Jr; and sister Laura Powell.
Marian leaves to cherish her 3 sons, Arthur (Artie) Powell(Crystal), Roosevelt Jr(Bam), and Edward(Bumpy) Mitchell; 3 daughters Vickie Trice, Rosetta(Red), and Ella Mitchell, stepdaughter Caroline Mitchell-Norman. Marian had 18 grandchildren; 8 granddaughters Miranda Garrett, Angela Gilbert, Keisha, and Jahmeiah Mitchell, LaTonya and Joyce Trice, Kedar Freeman, and Leila Seranno; 10 grandsons Jamahal Garrett, Morgan Gordon, Andre, Jordan, and Christopher Powell, Aaron Mitchell, Derial Behanan, Clearance(Danny), Donald, and David Landrum. Her 2 sisters; Joann Moore and Elinora Powell and 1 brother; Morris Moore. Marian 4 loving nephews Drew, Matthew, and Morris Jr. Moore, and Mark Powell. Also 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter the service and social distancing must be practiced. Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
