Mable Whitelow, age 89, departed this life to her heavenly home Monday, February 22, 2021. She was born on June 12, 1931 in Leeds, Alabama.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1955 from Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio. She later became an educator that tutored and taught in the Springfield City School system.
She loved to sew, read, cook, sing, watch westerns, and was always involved in a project. Mable was an active member of New Fair Street Christian Church in Springfield Ohio. After relocating, she became a loyal member of United Christian Church in Englewood, Ohio.
Mable was a Cub Scout Den mother, and a volunteer for the Red Cross, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Church Women United, and Springfield Interfaith Network for over 20 years, feeding the homeless in the local shelters. She always enjoyed helping people and loved the Lord.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Kate Upchurch and Julius Moore and her loving husband, William Whitelow Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Carmille (Don) Jones, William (Debbie) Whitelow and Victor Whitelow. Four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A devoted nephew, James (Alverta) Applin and a host of loving relatives including the Harmon, Bland, Moore, Applin, Carter, Edwards, Lee, Martin, Stone, and Warfield families.
The funeral service is at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 4781 S. Charleston Pike, Springfield, 45502. The interment will immediately follow the funeral beginning at 1:00 pm.. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter the service and social distancing must be practiced. Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
