Lillie Bell Ruffin was born on July 11, 1921 in Choctaw, Alabama to the union of James, Sr. and Mallie Pearson. Lillie was their oldest child of seven and first daughter of three and four sons.
Lillie heard and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Throughout her life she confessed unequivocally a profound demonstration of God's love and goodness to everyone.
Lillie grew into a greater love and understanding of God's word, and she along with her cousins, built their own house of worship.
Lillie was educated in the Alabama school system. Lillie met Fred Ruffin the love of her life and married him on September 9, 1940. "He who finds a wife, finds a good thing" (Proverbs 18:22) Lillie's love for God and family extend outside her home. This caring passion directed her in the Health Care Industry where she became a Private Duty Nurse, until her health begun to fail.
Lillie heard the final call on June 28, 2020, lifted her eyes and hands eagerly and stepped into the other side. "Free at Last!"
Lillie was preceded in death by: her parents, James Sr. and Mallie Pearson; her husband, Fred Ruffin; one daughter, Ethel Lee; two sons, Jerome Ruffin and Michael Battle; as well as her six siblings and devoted sisters-in-laws, James (Inez) Pearson Jr., Willie Pearson Sr. (Gertrude), A.G. Pearson, Elmo Pearson, Daisy Pearson and baby sister and faithful brother-in-law Velma Lee Willis (James Jr.)
Lillie leaves to cherish and preserve her precious legacy: her devoted daughter, Callie Mae Grant; and son, Johnny James Ruffin;
"Mama, Grandma or Aunt Bell" leaves her host of grandchildren, great-grands and great-great-grands and beloved nieces, nephews,
family and friends from near afar.
