Journey Samone Johnson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio July 5, 2011. Journey was a 6th grader at Rees E Price Academy. At school, she demonstrated her academic and athletic skills. She tested the highest math score in her class, played soccer, and was named Captain of the 6th-grade basketball team. Her favorite all-star NBA player was #30 Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors. She always talked about and dreamt of going to Clemson University in South Carolina.

Journey's big personality touched the lives and hearts of many people. She never met a stranger. Journey loved to talk and didn’t have a problem speaking her mind. She was a little girl with an old spirit who had a passion for helping others.

In her spare time, Journey loved making videos with her cousin Alexis, doing TikTok dances, and blogging Youtube challenges with her younger siblings. Always having a phone or iPad, Journey took many photos and videos to post on social media. At the tender age of 2, Journey taught her great-grandma and great-aunt how to play games on the computer. She was very tech-savvy. Journey was very talented, and loved to dance and draw. But most of all, Journey was an amazing big sister. She protected and loved her siblings and involved them in everything.

Journey leaves behind so many memories. Her huge personality and beautiful smile will truly be missed. Gone Too Soon! Journey precedes in death her Great Grandmother Madeline Young, Grandmother Tracie Young, and Aunt Lexus Barbour. Journey leaves to mourn her Mother Mercedes Johnson, Parent Sasha Young, Grandfather Rodney Pennington, Grandmother Kimberly Johnson, little brothers Bryant Johnson-Wison and Shaud Redd, little sister Shalayce Redd, and a host of Family, Friends, and Schoolmates.

Visitation is from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, on  Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Crossroads Community Church, 3500 Madison Road, Cincinnati  (45209).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. 

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.

In keeping with CDC Covid19 Guidelines, we encourage those who are not fully vaccinated to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
