Henry Eugene Neel

Henry Eugene Neel, known by many as Hank, was born on March 21, 1945, in Akron, OH to late Dollie Mae Ivery and Jethro Neel.  He was the eldest of six living siblings of Dollie and Joe Nathan Foster.

Preceded in death by two siblings Alexander Neel and Richard Neal, Sr. 

Henry is survived by his sisters: Cynthia Neel Edwards, Sheila Jo Foster, Lynda Foster, Sharon L. Foster, Ida Jackson, and Brenda Mobley;  brothers:  Earl Stan Foster (Catherine), Lonzo Jack Neel, Jay and Jethro, Jr. A dedicated and special friend Joe Johnson.

Henry attended elementary school in Akron, Ohio. He was united and baptized at Israelite Baptist Church. Henry moved with to Elyria, Ohio where he joined and served in the Choir and other functions at the Second Baptist Church. In 1959, Henry moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended Bloom Jr. High and Central High School. He united with New Prospect Baptist Church and served under Pastor T.L. Lane and Reverend Damon Lynch, III.

After graduation, Henry worked various jobs at Cincinnati General Hospital, Hilton Davis Chemical Company, and Frisches to name just a few. In 1965, Henry joined the United States Navy and was honorable discharged on August 8, 1969. He moved to Chicago Illinois and returned back to Cincinnati. Henry then met a special friend Joe Johnson and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1994. There he worked and attended Martin University, where he earned his degree in certified accounting.

Returning to Cincinnati, Henry reunited with New Prospect Baptist Church in 2015 until his health failed. He loved family, friends, and food GOOD FOOD.

He will truly be missed.

Visitation is from 8:00 am until 9:00 am, on  Friday, August 7, 2020, at the New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road, Cincinnati  (45237).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 9:00 am.

Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
