Eva Hubbard Obituary

Eva Hubbard was born on Wednesday, November 18, 1935, in Luverne, Alabama to the late M.C. and Earlean (Long) Lowrey. She was the eighth of twelve children born to this union.

Eva loved the Lord and professed Christ at an early age. In her youth, Eva was known by her siblings, for being "creative" with mud.  This earned her the nickname of "Mudd", which she became known as, throughout the family. Eva completed her education at Central High School, in Cincinnati, OH. She joined the New Prospect Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Collins and remained a member there for many years.  It was at New Prospect Church she met Percy Hubbard and they married on November 28, 1955.  In 1961, Percy and Eva joined Philippian Baptist Church, as charter members, under the leadership of the late Pastor Ivory Bimbo. To this union, they had seven children: Sylvia, Cynthia, Sabrina, Sherry, Seddrick, Jenell, and Andre'.

Eva went on to further her education, completing a Licensed Practical Nursing program in 1968. She shared her gift of nursing at many facilities in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area, including General Hospital (now UC Medical Center), the former Bethesda Oak Hospital, Burlington House, and Wellspring Retirement Community, amongst others.

Eva enjoyed Sunday School, Bible Study, and Sunday Morning worship. She worked on the church anniversary committee and was a member of the choir. In addition, she served as a Minister's  Wife,  Deaconess, a member of the Missionary Society, and Culinary Committee. Eva took delight in fellowshipping with the community churches under what was called the Six Choir Union. "Sister Hubbard" is what she was affectionately called and known for her sweet spirit.

Eva enjoyed traveling, shopping, and was a collector of unique jewelry and handbags.  She also enjoyed lunch dates and additional outings with her siblings. Eva's favorite colors were yellow and red. She was adored for her 'special recipe' of banana pudding, which her family loved.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and four sisters; daughter Sylvia, four grandchildren: Shanketa (Keta), Jerry, Jr. (J.J.), Jerome Robinson (J.R.), and Seddrick K. Lovejoy (Lil' Seddrick).

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life: Husband Percy L. Hubbard; children: Cynthia (Kent) Slaughter of Liberty Township, OH., Sabrina (Richard) Thompson of Houston, TX, Sherry Wiley of Louisiana, Seddrick (Tina) Hubbard, Andre' Hubbard (Kim), and Jenell Hubbard; Sister Olean Dawson all of Cincinnati, OH; Sister-in-Law LaDonna Lowery, of Tampa, FL; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, special family, and friends.
