Clarence Jones, Sr. Obituary

Clarence Jefferson Jones Sr.
December 9, 1950 - July 25, 2022

It is with sadness we announce the heavenly transition of Clarence Jefferson Jones Sr., age 71, of Cincinnati, Ohio,  who entered eternal rest on Monday, July 25, 2022, in Cincinnati,  Ohio.   He was born on December 9, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Clarence Jefferson Jones Sr., Born December 9, 1950, to Ruth Elizabeth Jones and Clarence Jefferson Luke in Cincinnati, Ohio, departed this earthly realm July 25, 2022.

Clarence attended Progressive Baptist Church as a young man. His devotion

and commitment earned him the title as one of the first Junior Deacons at the age

of 13. Clarence was given the honor of representing the youth department at 2nd annual National Baptist Conventions. Clarence was a young man who displayed his community concern by attending to the elderly, regularly doing chores and running errands around the Avondale community. He was awarded Good Citizen Honors for serving the community.

Later in life he joined Everybody’s Tabernacle headed by Leslie Isaiah Gaines. Then he found his forever church home at New Prospect Baptist Church, November 15, 2015 under the tutelage of Pastor Damon Lynch III.

After graduating Woodward High School (1969) he was drafted to the United States Army March 1970 and deployed to the Vietnam War where he served as a Heavy Equipment/Tank Operator until his Honorable discharge November 1971. Upon his return to the United States he lived in Los Angeles, CA and met Cheryl Sirmans (d. 1994). Together they produced his only Son, Clarence J. Jones Jr., his proudest achievement.

Clarence was employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years, serving the Silverton/Blue Ash communities where he won over a plethora of friends and colleagues with his smile, upbeat personality, and charm, retiring in 2006. Clarence loved family events, attending wrestling matches, and laughing until

he couldn't anymore. His lifelong love Sharon Jones helped raise his son in the absence of his mother, Cheryl. She stood by him through good and bad times for over 20 years.

Clarence was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth E Jones, father, Clarence Luke and sisters, Brenda Parham (2018) and Gilda Bailey (2020).He leaves to cherish his memory his only Son, Clarence Jefferson Jones Jr., his brother Kenneth Demarco Jones Sr. and a host of nieces/nephews and other relatives/friends. He was particularly close to his Aunt Alta Jordan (d.2012) and extended family in Los Angeles.
