Charles Edward Petty was born to the late William and Mary Petty on April 14, 1936 in Greensville, South Carolina. He departed this life suddenly on November 16, 2020 at his home.
Charles served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System. He worked at U.C. Medical Hospital until his retirement.
Charles met the love of his life, Ms. Dessie B. Smith in 1954. After Charles went into the service, life took him in different directions. As a result, they lost contact. And in 1964 Dessie moved back to Cincinnati and Charles reunited with the love of his life. They eventually married and to this union three children were born.
Charles dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1997 and became a Jehovah’s Witness. When the Jehovah Witness rebuilt their new Hall in Walnut Hills, Charles gave most of his time and muscles to help with the building of the new Hall. He loved being a Jehovah’s Witness and he loved his Jehovah Witness Family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Jr., grandson, Victor Jr., and stepdaughter, Antoinette Clark.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Dessie B. Petty; five daughters: Evette (Michael) Campbell, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lolita Petty, Mary Petty, Vila (Greg) Hubbard and Felisa (Don) Wilson, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sons: Victor (Mattie) Smith, Aaron Pringle, Rodney Montgomery, Clarence Moore, and Mort Moore all of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sisters in law: Dorothy Ware of Knoxville, Tennessee, Roberta (Charlie) Brown, Shirley (Clarence) Irvin, and Brenda (Charles) Chappell; brothers in law: Harvey Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio and Anthony (Michelle) Germany of Columbia, South Carolina; 28 grand, great and great, great-grand children, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
