Charles Evan Goines Sr. known affectionately as Uncle Chuck to many, was born on March 23, 1938 in Dayton Ohio to his devoted parents Luther and Loretta Goines. Charles was one of four siblings born to this union. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Beverly Seay and Janet Houseton. He is survived by his older brother, William Goines.
As a boy growing up in Lockland, Ohio Charles was known as a handful to his family and schoolmates. He had quite the adventurous spirit and was often caught doing something mischievous, all in the name of fun. He would banter with his siblings that he loved so dearly. Charles would spend hours in the woods hunting for blackberries or playing in the creek catching critters. Charles became fond of the water-he became an avid fisherman and swimmer. Charles would later take that love of water with him when he joined the military, entering into the Navy branch where he served his country for four years.
Charles was happily married to Arlene Weems for 57 wonderful years. From this union six beautiful children were born; Debbie Lackey, Carlos Goines, Tony (Yvette) Goines, Gary Goines Sr. (deceased), Charles Goines Jr., and Damon (Zahirah) Goines.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Those that also loved him include many brother and sister-in-laws as well as a host of nieces and nephews who enjoyed many family outings at Stone Lick Lake where "Uncle Chuck" could be found manning the grill or watching the kids challenge each other during a volleyball game or tossing horseshoes which was sure to bring out the trash talking followed by lots of laughs.
Charles retired from P&G after 32 years as a factory worker about 1990. He spent his later years traveling around with his adoring wife and family. His grandchildren were often at the house staying the night and they listened to him cheer on his Cincinnati Bearcats basketball team or listened to him telling stories about his many adventures.
Charles transitioned peacefully at the age of 84 on May 13, 2022 with the undisputed love of his life, his wife Arlene by his side.
