Carlos M. Wooten quietly took his last breath on September 8, 2020, at the University Hospital with his devoted wife and children and siblings not far behind. He was born on May 29, 1955, to the union of the late Rev. Leathea Wooten Burden and late Willie Green Wooten in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He received his primary education from the Cincinnati Public School System. He attended Job Corp and over the course of his life, he worked as a chief and worked along with his brother, Anthony in the construction business before retiring on disability in 2000 due to a medical condition.
In the 1990s, He was inducted into the Aleikum Temple No. 96, Grand Lodge of Northern, Kentucky. He was promoted as Marshall in a very short time due to his knowledge and leadership skills.
He spend time working with his Mother’s organization, People, Parents against Senseless Killings P.P.A.S.K in 1992 after the death of his youngest brother, Alan Wooten.
Over the last forty-five years of his life, he devoted himself to the well-being of his wife, family and his beloved grandchildren. We believe his biggest accomplishment was being inducted into the Masonic Aleikum Temple in Greenup, Kentucky.
Carlos was fond of the bible and in addition to quoting scriptures, he could hold a conversation that was both informative, but extensive. He was an avid reader and enjoyed ministering to anyone he came across. He enjoyed listening to the Motown Era Music especially his favorite artist, Al Green. Carlos not only knew the lyrics to all his songs but affectionately, could also imitate Mr. Green and enjoyed mimicking Mr. Green’s style of dress. We know how much he loved and admired Al Green.
In his leisure time, he enjoying spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and often hanging out with his siblings: Linda, Anthony, and Alexander listening to music and enjoyed being in their presence. His biggest enjoyment came from family gatherings, sitting back, and sharing many childhood stories with all who were present and willing to listen. He enjoyed going to the pool hall and having his favorite drink. He had an infectiousness Smile that would brighten up everyone and everything around him. His loving spirit and gentle kindness will surely be missed and mostly remembered.
Carlos Wooten was preceded in death by his beloved Mother, The Reverend Leathea Burden, his father, Willie Green Wooten, his son Rodney Mackey and his brother, the late Alan D. Wooten.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory of his devoted wife Joyce Peterson of twenty-nine years, five children, Carliss Wooten (Samuel) Griffin, Terrence (Joy) Wooten, Shawlanda Howard, Melvina Stovall, Rodney Mackey Jr (Deceased), two sisters, Linda (Joe)Wooten, Barvenia Michelle Wooten of Richmond, VA, and three brothers, Anthony Lawrence (Tonya) Wooten, Alexander Wooten, Willie Green Wooten, Jr, devoted granddaughter Tierra Ta'mier, twenty-four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews cousins, family members, and friends.
