Bennie James King

Bennie James King was born October 11, 1947 in Shiloh, Alabama to the proud parents George and Izora Victoria King (Both preceded him in death).

Bennie was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where at an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at Revelation Baptist Church.  He was educated in Cincinnati and lived there until he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from Simeon Vocational High School and married the love of his life, Jerline King and to this union their beautiful daughter Christoria King was born.

Bennie was a jack of all trades which afforded him the opportunity to work with many organizations in Chicago and Cincinnati; American Red Cross, Johnson Products & Company, B.A.E. Doors, Futuro and Milord Construction.  He retired from B.A.E. Doors. Bennie loved his time in Chicago, however the ailing health of his mother brought him back to Cincinnati to care for her until her death. 

Bennie brought a lot of love and joy to all that knew him with his crazy sense of humor and loud laugh that could heard miles away.  He had many talents and loved to dance and make his famous drink “Pink Drink” He enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the family catering business he worked at after retirement, along with his sisters and nephew.

Bennie departed this life on August, 6, 2020.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  loving wife and friend, Jerline King:  cherished daughter, Christoria King and godson Jordan Bates.  Siblings: Izora Hood, Barbara Caldwell (Joseph), Lemmy G. King (Barbara), Antoinette Sutton, Annette Richardson (Jake), Viola King-Smith and Vence Lewis.  Sadie Cunningham, Meledge Johnson, Vivian Williams, Earl Collins and infant baby brother preceded him in death.  Extended family: Yvonne Eely, Nanette Parks, Joyce Warfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

The family would like to thank you for the expressions of love during their time of bereavement with special acknowledgements to Izora, Denise, Viola, Anita, Annette, Antoinette and Obadiah for the dedication, tender love, and delicate care they gave Bennie during his illness.

A gathering of family and friends is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church, 7717 Harrison avenue, Mt. Healthy  (45231).   A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
