Addie Mae Richardson was born in Freemont, Alabama on January 7, 1927 to the late Clara (Godwin) Brown and Alfred Hill. The Lord called Addie home from this earthly life on Sunday, December 29, 2013. Addie left Freemont, Alabama as a young adult and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in the mid 1940’s. Upon settling in Ohio most of her work was in a domestic capacity. She later became employed at the well-known five star Maisonette Restaurant where she served on the kitchen staff for nearly 15 years.

Addie came to know Christ at an early age and after moving to Ohio, she joined St. John AME Zion Church. She later became a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church until the Lord called her home. Throughout the earlier years of her membership, she served as a class leader, on the usher board and willingly helped in any other capacity needed within the church. Often times she served faithfully in the kitchen where she was known for baking her delicious pound cakes. Addie loved the St. Mark Church family and remained a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending regularly.

Addie and Sylvester Richardson were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1966.

Addie was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Richardson of 15 years; brothers, Grover Lee Stubbs, William Brown (Pat) of Detroit, MI, Lester C. Brown and Sylvester Hill (Evonne) of Cincinnati, OH; John Hill (Ella) of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Azlie (Stubbs) Ward-Goree, Marie (Brown) Walker (Theodore) of Birmingham, AL, and Minnie (Hill) Suttles (Albert) of Cincinnati, OH.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Michael Jones (Shirley) of Columbus, OH, Kimberly (Dariea) King of Cincinnati, OH; brothers, Eddie Brown (Dorothy), Alfred Hill (Phyllis) of Detroit, MI; Emmanuel Brown of Birmingham, AL; Booker T. Brown (Dorothy) of Jones, AL, Larry Hill (Jeannette) of Bowie, MD; sisters, Veola (Brown) Ward, Mildred (Meldee) Walker of Birmingham, AL, Ruth (Wilson) Paulding of Fayetteville, NC, Omega (Leonard) Sewell of Detroit, MI, Ovetta (James) Williams of Bessemore, AL, Voncile (Theodore) Sherrey, Elizabeth Hill of Selma, AL; sisters-in-law, Hattie Brown of Cincinnati, OH, Willa Mae Stubbs of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren, Sharron Jones, Shanae Jones and Michael Jones, all Columbus, OH; and LaShonda (Antoine) Franklin, Neyonna King, Michael King of Cincinnati, OH; two great-granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
