Mrs. Yvonne Blassingame-Gaines was born October 22, 1954 to the union of Lafayette and Mary K. Blassingame Sr. Mrs. Blassingame-Gaines transitioned on February 3, 2017. She was the youngest girl of this union. Yvonne Blassingame attended Aiken High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was such an exceptional student in school that she skipped two grades. She began employment in the healthcare field at a young age and later worked for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court Detention Center. She married her long time love Ricky Gaines. Yvonne Blassingame-Gaines was always a joy to be around. She was a selfless woman who accepted everyone for who you were. She always gave her time to those who needed an ear, a shoulder to cry on or someone to provide them with insight and counseling. Yvonne dedicated her life to helping the sick. She cared for her grandmother Frances R. Smith for 17 years and her parents and husband even beyond that time. She was a dedicated mother and was a proud grandmother. She is survived by her loving mother Mary K. Blassingame of Spartanburg, SC; children Andre Shawn Warren, Candice Blassingame, Natasha Blassingame, Kimberley Blassingame, Derrick D. Blassingame, grandchildren, Shamaiya Barnett, Quonzell Morris, Jemasia Warren, Nakeiya Blassingame, Tre'Von Warren, Evonte' Blassingame, Riquan Blassingame, La'Shanti Lattimore, Leondrae Blassingame, Keonte' Brown, Cortez Blassingame II, Audrey Warren, Daveon Warren, Cortez Blassingame III, sisters Peggy Lundy, Linda Laney, Carolyn George, brother Lafayette Blassingame Jr., and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ricky Gaines, father Lafayette Blassingame, Sr., Grandmother Frances R. Smith, first born son Cortez Blassingame, Sr, and Brother Ronald Blassingame. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3660 Washington Avenue, Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
