Yvonne Carol (Waters) Barnes was born in Cincinnati, OH on August 25, 1948 to Mr. James Waters and Ms. Beatrice Williams, starting off life as an only child. God called her home Sunday August 9, 2015 after battling and surviving a diagnosis of cancer for over a year. Yvonne was both baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the same church where her mother worshiped. Throughout her life Yvonne was prayerful and loved the Lord in both good times and bad. In her early life, Yvonne enjoyed being a Girl Scout, singing in her high school choir and being a candy-striper at Christ hospital. Yvonne graduated from Hughes High School in1966.In August of 1966 Yvonne began working at Western-Southern Life Insurance Company in the personnel department. Over her 40 year career there, she was promoted to a supervisor in the field accounting division and built a work family of brothers and sisters and left a lasting legacy. On August 22, 1970, Yvonne married Walter Barnes and immediately inherited 3 loving sisters. Their union spanned almost 20 years and produced two grateful and reverent children. After retiring from Western-Southern, Yvonne took a part time job at Walmart. This position not only kept her active but allowed her an opportunity to continue to give abundantly to her family. It was through her relationships with those at Walmart that she was introduced, and continued to worship her Savior, Jesus Christ, at The Oasis Church while she battled Cancer Today Yvonne is survived by her mother and father: Bill and Bea White; 2 sons and a daughter- in-law: Brandon, Milan and Kristin; 2 granddaughters: Deja Givens and Avery Carole-Grace Barnes as well as a very special connection with Khadijah and Jade Akil (who referred to Yvonne as "Grandma"). Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 544 Rockdale Avenue, Cincinnati (45222). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment is in Landmark Memorial Gardens at Cincinnati, Ohio.
