Willis Bernard Green (Bernie) was born on Sunday, March 5, 1961, to the late Willie James Green and Jennie V. Green in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bernie was the eleventh of twelve siblings.

He was baptized as a child at Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Douglas P. Jones. Bernie was educated in the Cincinnati Public School District. He didn't enjoy school, but he believed everyone should know how to read, write, and count money. He always felt he was the smartest one in the room.

At the age of seventeen, Bernie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received an Honorable Discharge in 1984. He was the head chef at Cincinnati's five-star restaurant, LA Normandie, for many years. After losing his voice, he relied on the writing skills he had learned to communicate until his passing.

Willis Green departed this life on June 17, 2025. He fought a good fight and faced adversity with courage and determination.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie James Green and Jennie V. Green, and two brothers, Woodie James Green and Arnold Jerome Green.

Willis leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Andrew Green, Eddie J. Green, and Lawrence Green; six sisters, Sarah Mae Poellnitz (Joe), Barbara Jean Henderson, Rose Canady, Willie Mae Hale (William), Carolyn Marie Green, and Connie Yvette Mays (Rodger); one uncle, Arthur Branch; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on  Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati  (45206).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:30 am. Rev. Roger Mays, officiating. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
