IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Lee
Thompson, Sr.
April 10, 1941 – May 21, 2017
Willie Lee Thompson was born on April 10th, 1941 to Mamie Cunningham in Sheffield, Alabama. Willie was the youngest of four siblings. Willie was always stern, straight up, "kept it real" kind of guy. As smooth as he was, he was also someone not to be messed around with. While growing up, at the age of 18, Willie decided to leave Sheffield, and move to Cincinnati, Ohio where he would stay until his departure in life. He moved up here and stayed with his Uncle Willie until he got his own place. During that time Uncle Willie was working at Crane and Breed Casket company downtown on eighth street and got his nephew a job there, Willie was the jack of all trades at the casket company from loading caskets to handling the elevator controls. He would work at the Casket Company for nine years until pursuing his career in the automobile industry. While still working at the casket company in 1967, through a mutual friend by the name Garner Harris Willie met a sweet, intelligent, "foxy brown" lady by the name of Bobbie Jean. If you knew Willie, you know whatever he liked, he was going to get. Willie and Bobbie started dating and one year later on January 6th 1968, Willie and Bobbie were married. Through this union of 49 years they were blessed with children, grandchildren, many memories, and many remarkable moments. Soon after they were married to support his family Willie then moved to GM (General Motors) and worked there until his retirement after 30 years in the workforce. He was a maintenance welder for the company and loved what he did! While working at GM his passion for cars grew even bigger than before. Willie was driving some of the finest cars back then as well as today. Whatever it was Willie had it! He had a 1973 Lincoln, two corvettes, and at least 5 Cadillac's!!! Let's just say Willie and Bobbie was always riding in style! While cars were one passion he also loved bbq. Willie could sho nuff grill. He had some of the best ribs in the city! He enjoyed cooking for his family, as well as his friends. Did I forget to mention Willie could dress better than any other man on the street, and you wonder where his sons got there style from. Willie was a family man! He truly loved his family, he might have not always said it, but his actions spoke louder than words. He was a family man and made sure food was on the table for his wife and children. But most importantly Willie loved all his Grandkids. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, from the youngest to the oldest. He loved his grandchildren and made sure of that. Sadly, on May 21st God called one of his children home to be with him. Willie will be truly missed by so many from family to friends. Willie was blessed to have eight children; four have preceded him in death. His sons Gary, Lavelle and Lorenzo Thompson, and one daughter Michelle Dunn. Willie leaves to cherish on this earth his loving wife of 49 years Bobbie Thompson, four children Rebecca Lawson, Valerie Thompson, Cheryl (Robert) Williams of Florence , Alabama, and Rosalind Evans, and a strong host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Willie we love you and we will miss you, go have some fun! Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills, 1025 E.
