Willie Earl Sims Jr was born on July 11, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of the late Willie Lee Sims and Atlean Sims. Willie aka (Pumpkin) was the oldest brother of seven (7) sisters. Willie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Emmanul Baptist Church, later he moved his membership to Bright Star Baptist Church where he quietly served and worshipped the Lord. He loved attending singing programs and concerts at the church.
Willie was employed with the City of Cincinnati Sanitation Department from December 9, 1979, and worked there faithfully until his retirement September 1, 2011 (32 Years) Willie grew up in the West End Community of Cincinnati. He attended Cincinnati Public Schools. He was a strong quite man who loved his family. He was a hard-working, dedicated man with a generous heart. He was a fan of Football, he enjoyed listening to various gospel groups, and playing his music. He loved life to the fullest and he will be dearly missed by all. Willie leaves to cherish his memory: His loving Mother Atlean Sims, Sisters, Katherine Morgan, Louranda Sims, Dianne (Pastor James) Strayhorn, Joanne Sims, Linda Sims-Reed, Terrie Briggs and Arletha Alexander. He will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his Father Willie Lee Sims.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 6:30 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
He will be laid to rest at a Landmark Memorial Gardens.
