Willie J. McCray was born December 18,1925 in Prentiss, Mississippi. At  a very young age he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Edward and Sallie Mae Polk Carr in New York. He was raised by them until he came to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 16. Willie J. made sure to visit New York every year until his aunt passed in 1991.

Willie worked various jobs until he landed a job at Shuller's Wigwam as a head busser. This turned out to be his long term job, of which he was very proud and much loved and respected.

Shuller's is where Willie met the love of his life, Jimmie Denson. They married on October 31, 1997 in Cincinnati, Ohio where they resided together until his passing on August 18, 2020.

Willie J was preceded in death by his parents, Aunt Sallie Mae Polk-Carr, Uncle Edward Carr; step sons: Eugene Wilson, James (Helen) Denson and Robert (Emma) Denson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, "Mrs. Wonderful" Jimmie McCray; his daughters: Willa Bell Denson, Nettie Holloway, Mary Denson, Annie Grigsby; his sons: Michael Denson and Jimmy (Sybyl) Denson Sr.

Willie also leaves his special cousins, LeCrease (Melvin) Hicks and family from Carriere, Mississippi and James (Gene) Stubbs of Long Beach, Mississippi.

Willie was blessed to be loved by a host of grangchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

If you know Willie, You know how much " The King" loved his leather jacket. We thought what better way to send him off than in his favorite outfit. As he would always say, "How you like me now?"

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 10:45 am, on  Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 10:45 am. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Interment will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery, 3117 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
