IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie Claude
Gibson
August 11, 1926 – October 2, 2018
Willie Claude Gibson was born to the late Claude Gibson and the late Estell Huff Gibson, on August 11, 1926 in Washington, Georgia. As a child, Willie grew up in a rural area of Georgia with his siblings, Lillie Mae, Anna Laura, (Li'l Sister), John Willie, Mary, and DJ (brother) all whom have preceded him in death. And his sister, Eula Mae Turner.
Willie gave his life to the Christ at an early age. He joined the Crossroads Church of Washington, Georgia and was a member of the male chorus, and they traveled to many churches in the area performing Gospel hymns. Willie enjoyed singing in the male chorus and continued to sing with many male chorus groups after moving to Cincinnati, and until his health began to fail him.
Willie worked as a construction laborer and laborer at various jobs and at various locations until he suffered a back injury.
In 1951, he married Mamie Lou West and to this union was born four children, Ms. Diane Gibson, Mr. Garland Gibson (Theresa), Ms. Anita Hisle, and Mrs. Cathy Waller (Gregory). In 1981, Willie married Deborah Stewart and they were married for 37 years until his death.
Willie was an advent gardener, and he enjoyed growing all kinds of vegetables which he generously shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and traveling to visit relatives.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deborah, his children, his sister, Mrs. Eula Mae Turner, GA, step-children, Bryant Stewart, Alexis Stewart, Roderick Stewart (Tanisha), and a host of nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and family and friends.
