McMahan, William Allen, 74, passed away June 9 from cancer. He was lovingly cared by his wife, Trudelle Thomas, and died peacefully at home with her and his children at his bedside. A Cincinnati native, Bill graduated from Withrow High School, Ohio College of Applied Science, and Miami University of Ohio. He taught carpentry at Diamond Oaks High School for many years, and started the first private home inspection business in Cincinnati, Home Buyers' Technical Consultants. He was a Vietnam veteran, an environmentalist, and a lover of science. Bill received awards for his long-term volunteer work for the Better Housing League, Finneytown School District, and Finneytown Civic Association. Bill is survived by wife of 26 years, Trudelle Thomas; five adult children, Joe, Tom, Yvonne (Tyler), and Gabe (all of Cincinnati) and Pete (of Arnold, Maryland); nine grandchildren, Pierce, Hannah, Connor, Israel, Joey, Selah, Elias, Evi, and Olivia; and former wife, Carol Horton McMahan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ida McMahan, and his brother, Bob, Jr. Bill was loved for his friendly smile, quick sense of humor, and the many practical skills which he generously shared. Grandson Israel, age 11, remarked, "My grandpa could build or fix anything." A celebration of Bill's life will be held Sept. 16 at the Centennial Barn, St. Clare's Convent, Hartwell.
