William E. Sims, age 69, passed away December 25, 2013. He was born September 27, 1944 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Funeral 12 noon at Love Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1026 Oakridge Drive, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment Dayton National William Earl Sims was born on September 27, 1944 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to the late William A.J. and Mable Sims. The second child of eight children in which two preceded him in death, Barbara Pringle and Michael K. Sims. William married the love of his life in 1979, Minnie Davis, as he called her (Baby) and remained in this union 34 years. Two daughters, Barri and Evelyn were united to this union. William received his formative education in Tennessee and Ohio Public School. He faithfully served in the United States military (Army) from 1962 until 1964. Elder Sims was diligent in business as he assumed a professional career that allowed him to work with many people. He owned and operated B & J Concrete Inc. for many years. William accepted Holiness and became a member of Temple of Hope C.O.G.I.C. in Cincinnati, Ohio under the leadership of Elder W.D. Mack and later Christ Temple C.O.G.I.C. where he served faithfully until 2005. William served for a number of years as an Associate Pastor and an Assistant Superintendent at the Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Elder Darrell Anderson. God gave divine order to elevate William to become a Pastor. William and Minnie worked the ministries through the help of God and name the church Gateway Ministries, Inc. C.O.G.I.C. where he served faithfully until the city decided to possess the land, and uprooted the church. William later served as an Associate Pastor at the Love Chapel C.O.C.I.C. Dayton, Ohio, under the leadership of Pastor Malcolm Heard where he served faithfully until his demise. William will be affectionately remembered by his wife, Minnie Davis Sims; four children: three daughters, Barri (Eric) Richardson, Evelyn (Amani) Whittaker, stepdaughter, Sherri Brown; one son, Courtier Sims (Nicole) Stephens, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Laura M. Juanita Anderson and Ozella Sims-Bennett of Cincinnati, OH; three brothers, John L. (Patricia) Sims, and Marvin L. Sims of Cincinnati, OH, Mark Anthony Sims of San Diego; six grandchildren, 28 nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Delcia Davis of Indianola, Mississippi. A host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and church family.
