Obituary

William Chester Cheatham October 2, 1953 - January 25, 2024

William "Bill" Cheatham, age 71, went to be with Jesus on January 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on October 2, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio. From that day he never met a stranger. He was extremely charismatic and had a strongly relational personality that made people feel  comfortable, connected, and safe. In addition to his many talents, Bill excelled at baseball, contributing to successful teams at his alma mater, Scott High School, and even playing a season at  the University of Findlay. He went on to coach youth sports which included his daughters' softball teams and grandsons' baseball teams. Through this, Bill was recognized by former Toledo  mayor, the Honorable Carlton "Carty" Finkbeiner, for Bill's exceptional efforts as softball coach, which included his remarkable transformation of an undeveloped city field into a practice field for  his team.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Mae, and wife who was the love of his life, Robin. His legacy lives on through daughters Paula (Kirk), Sonya (David), Carmella, and  Vanessa (Donald), grandchildren Tyler, Tyrone, Zamyre, Josiah, Elijah, MaKaeyla, and Jeremiah, great grandchildren Queen, Chief, and Nina, sister Candy, brothers Mark & Kevin, and a  host of deeply loved family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill was a Christian and member of Valley Gospel Tabernacle where he served as Sunday School superintendent. He was always the first to volunteer to uplift and encourage the youth through  serving as a security officer, teacher, van driver and more. He will be greatly missed by many. We love you, Bill/Daddy/G-Dad and take comfort in knowing you are now with your Lord and Savior,  Jesus Christ, meeting ancestors and loved ones. Thank you for sharing your light and hope for life.

A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 PM on February 24 th , in the church he grew up in, Emmanuel Apostolic Tabernacle, 602 Tecumseh, Toledo, Ohio, 43604.
