William Bonner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. Born on April 30, 1935, in Selma, Alabama, William was the cherished son of William P. Bonner and Janie Bonner. He spent his formative years in a close-knit family that instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life.

William's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love. After attending Miami University of Oxford, he served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. His commitment to service was mirrored in his professional life, where he worked as a quality control manager at Carpetland for an impressive 55 years, retiring at the age of 85. His colleagues admired his meticulous attention to detail and his steadfast commitment to excellence.

On July 25, 1964, William married the love of his life, Helen Mays, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned over six decades. Together, they built a loving family, welcoming five children: Crystal, Chavella, William, John (Jay) Allen, and Patrick Mays. His family grew to include two grandchildren, Nieco and Levon Jr and two great-grandchildren, Tevin and Brianna, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. William's love for his family was boundless, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

Beyond his professional achievements, William was a passionate bowler. He spent countless joyful hours at the bowling alley, competing in leagues with his son and daughter-in-law. His love for the sport was contagious, and he cherished the camaraderie and friendships he built throughout.

William was known for his stern demeanor, but those who took the time to know him discovered a warm, generous heart. He had a reputation for having an answer for everything, a testament to his wisdom and life experience. His willingness to help others, even when it was difficult, was a defining aspect of his character. Those who had the privilege of knowing William knew they were better for it.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen; his daughters, Crystal and Chavella; his sons, William, Patrick Mays, and John (Jay) Allen; his grandchildren, Nieco and Levon Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Brianna and Tevin; and his sisters, Tuffy and Dorothy. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the love he gave so freely.

William Bonner's life was a remarkable journey filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones for generations to come.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Oasis Non-Denominational Church, 11300 Kenn Road, Forest Park (45240). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
