It is with profound sadness that we announce the heavenly transition of Walter L. McFarland, age 89, of Mason, Ohio, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Mason, Ohio. He was born on Friday, September 11, 1936, in Malta Bend, Missouri.

He served in the Army National Guard full-time for 12 years, including the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He spent most of his career as an independent Insurance agent/broker, not retiring until around age 75.

He loved going to church and led many bible studies. He was a prayer warrior and had a daily scheduled prayer time with his friend, Al Wolfe at 7:00 a.m. Monday - Friday.

In his free time, he loved to play golf, work on his yard, and spend time with his family, especially if it involved a cookout and he got to grill.

Once retired, he worked part-time at Sharon Woods cutting grass and playing golf for free.

He was the beloved husband of Arlene McFarland. Devoted stepfather of Michael (Viv) McSwain, MarDee (Paul) Moon, MarCee (Mike) Wilkerson, and the late Mark McSwain. Cherished grandfather of 11. Great-grandfather of 27 and counting, and the dear brother of Carolyn (Larry) Morgan. Preceded in death by his parents Phillip & Ceola McFarland and four other sisters, Avis (Willard) Crane, Ollie (Rollin) Boyd, Vernice (Carl) Stoner, Hilda (John) Sweikert.
