Virginia Mae
(Worthy) Logan
September 22, 1934 – September 1, 2021
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Virginia Mae Logan, a loving mother of four children, passed away at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, North Carolina at the age of eighty-six.
Virginia was born on Saturday, September 22, 1934 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She grew up as a little girl in Hendersonville/Asheville, North Carolina and in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also spent time in Johnson City, Knoxville and Kingsport, Tennessee, Norfolk, Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia and lastly Roseboro/Clinton, North Carolina. She received her Cosmetology education at Moler-Hollywood Beauty College in Cincinnati. She worked many years in Cincinnati as a self employed Cosmetologist. She married twice to Avery June Logan of Kingsport, Tennessee, and later, Valentino (Tina) Gibson of Asheville, North Carolina. Virgina had four children - Gregory Logan (Roseboro, NC), Junadean Conley (Cincinnati, OH), Anthony Oliphant (Atlanta, GA), and her youngest child - Terrell Logan (Cincinnati, OH) who preceded her in death.
Virginia was a member of the Tree Of Life church in Cincinnati led by Pastor Mary Jennings. Although, in recent years, she moved away from Cincinnati, she never allowed her worship to drift away, in fact, she grew stronger in her faith. While in Clinton and Roseboro, North Carolina, she was a member of Brown's Chapel under the leadership of Pastor Jeffrey White. She also attended St. Thomas AME Zion lead by Reverend H.D. Hines.
Virginia had a passion for family and friends, hair styling, and giving many words of encouragement, often taking time out to discuss many life lessons, and she was very supportive in our pursuit of happiness. She will be remembered for her awesome smile, upbeat and positive personality, word puzzles, laughter, and Gospel Music. She was known for her talks of wisdom with many family members on the importance of being a better person, and improving the quality of our lives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her father James Curtis Worthy, mother Helen Poole (Queener), brother James Robert Worthy, her late husband Valentino (Tina) Gibson, and her youngest child - Terrell Logan.
She is survived by her son Gregory, her son Anthony, and her daughter Junadean all mentioned above. She is also survived by eleven grand children: Maurice Logan, Percy Conley, Marquise Conley, Marlon Conley, Sherena Conley, Lisa Logan, Gregory Logan, Junior, Antwon Thompson, Camille Logan, Gregory Orlando Logan, and Isaiah Morton-Oliphant. In addition, Thirty-Five great grand childern, and One great, great grand child. as well as many other family members.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Home, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, 45220.
