IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia (Smith)
Birks
April 13, 1938 – January 16, 2026
Virginia Smith was born on April 13, 1938, to the late Susie Mae Walker and William Smith. She married her best friend, Arthur Birks, in 1983. They were in this beautiful union for 35 years, where she remained a devoted wife until he departed.
Virginia Birks accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior in her middle years and lived her life guided by kindness and generosity. She had a deep love for music and a keen eye for fashion, often designing and making her own clothing. Virginia worked as a factory worker for more than 30 years, a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic.
A woman of many interests, Virginia took great joy in caring for others. She loved her neighbors and was known for her giving spirit, generously supporting numerous organizations. She also found peace in planting flowers, creating beauty wherever she lived.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Mae Walker; brother, Emmit Walker; sisters, Gloria Cottie, Mable Evans, Mary Alice McBride, Gayle Smith; nephew Oliver Payne, Bobby Smith, Tony Smith; two nieces, Suzette Evans and Johnetta McBride.
She leaves to cherish her memory; two sisters Earlene Allen and Brenda Walker; niece, Tracy Walker; her special niece, Claudia Metcalf, who lovingly cared for her and looked after her well being; nephews, James Cottie, Arthur Evans (Janice), Matthew Cottie, John Evans, Darrell Walker, Marcus Smith (Tina), Courtney Walker and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
