Obituary

Virginia A. Covington, daughter of the late Virgil and Catherine Covington was born April 28, 1928 in Cincinnati, OH. She departed this life on Saturday, December 5, 2015. She was baptized at an early age and a member of Second Baptist Church in the Eastend. She grew up in a small community of Madisonville on Dunbar Place. Virginia aka Jenny graduated from Withrow High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Henry D. Smith on September 18, 1946 who preceded her in death. To this union five children were born. Even as her memory faded the love for her children, her family, friends and the love of Jesus never faded. There was not a day that she did not speak about or cry out for their presence. She was a great cook and loved to serve others. Family and friends couldn't wait to get some of those Sunday morning biscuits before going off to church or some of those awesome baked beans or tasty sweet potato pies. Virginia was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. She is survived by: three sons, Ronald, Larry, (Renae), Henry; two daughters, Yvonne and Dr. Barbara Smith Dosett (Thomas Sr.); one brother Steven; 13 grandchildren; over 20 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Thanks to Almighty God for the time you have allowed Virginia to be a important part of our lives. Take her in your arms and care for her until our time together comes again. Somewhere in our hearts beneath all our grief and pain, Is a smile we still wear at the sound of your dear name, The precious word is "Mother", She was our world you see, But now our hearts are breaking Cause she's no longer her with me GOD chose her for his angel to watch from up above, To guide and advise and know we are still loved.
