IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vernon Brian
Yancey
May 8, 1969 – March 28, 2013
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has welcomed home husband, father, brother, and friend, Vernon Brian Yancey, at 2:50 p.m., on Thursday, March 28th, 2013, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vernon was born seventh among eight children to the late Claudette Bailey and Vernon Maurice Yancey. They grew up in Avondale, and then moved to Correyville, where Vernon could be found often at the local Correyville Recreation Center. He eventually attended Hughes High School. He later met the love of his life, Cecilia Kinney Yancey, and they married on July 28th, 2001. Vernon was a true family man who loved to cook and grill. The entire family cherished his amazing annual 4th of July fireworks show. He loved Gerald LeVert's song "Baby, Hold Onto Me", and would play it full blast in his car. We knew, from inside the house, that he was home when he pulled into the driveway! ? We will all miss "Badda", as he was affectionately called by his wife, children, and grandchildren. We will definitely miss his famous mac 'n cheese he'd make for each family gathering. But most of all, we will miss his loving, jovial, supportive nature that will stay forever etched in our hearts and memories. May God rest his soul. He leaves behind his loving wife, Cecilia Kinney Yancey, one son, Demetrius Vernon Kinney, and two daughters, Chivon Brown (Michael Brown), Brittney Kinney. He is preceded by his parents, Claudette and Vernon Maurice Yancey, and Glamorita Yancey (Step-Mother). He also leaves behind four sister: Angela Hart, Stephanie Morton, Judie Glaze, and Stephanie Glaze, and Four brothers: Maurice Yancey, Derrick Yancey, Harry Yancey (Vanessa), and preceded by brothers Andre Yancey, Rodney Glaze, grandson Jeremiah Demetrius Kinney. He also leaves behind four sisters-in-law: Karen Bouquet (Alex), Angela Kinney, Cynthia Smith (Coker), Naomi Kinney; and four brothers-in-law: Alfred Kinney, Rev. Francis Kinney (Veronica), and Carl Kinney. He is preceded by brother-in-law Robert Kinney Jr. Additionally, Vernon leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his grandchildren: Malaia, Mia, and Myla Brown, Richard "R.J." Williams and Jamia Kinney. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 5 at James Temple Church of God In Christ, 1116 Lincoln Ave., Cincinnati 45206.
