IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vernon
Thompson
August 12, 1954 – January 6, 2026
Vernon Thompson was born on August 12, 1954. He attended Aiken High School and completed some studies at Quarter Tech. He also studied Islam and later converted to the faith.
He was the devoted father of three biological children: Lateea Lewis, Amiri Muhammad, and Aaleyiah Muhammad, as well as four stepchildren: Casey Broadus, Dion Broadus, Nicole Broadus, and Arthur Williams, all of whom he loved and raised as his own.
Vernon Thompson was deeply loved by so many. He was intelligent, wise, and had a gift for sharing knowledge with everyone around him. Vernon never hesitated to help others learn, grow, or see things from a better perspective. His words stayed with people, and his presence made a lasting impact. The love people have for him speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. He will always be remembered for his mind, his heart, and the way he poured knowledge into so many lives.
To the world, he was Vernon Thompson, but to us, he was Dad.
He was our teacher, our protector, our guide, and our greatest example. Our father was a man of wisdom and intelligence who believed deeply in sharing knowledge and uplifting others. He taught us the value of learning, integrity, and kindness—not only through his words, but through the way he lived his life.
Vernon loved jazz and writing poetry. He loved everything about Black history and enjoyed studying history. Even in his final year, he was preparing to start a history podcast called A.C.O. (African Culture Organization).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis M. Pace Sr. and Mary Louise Pace, and his sister, Angela.
He is survived by his sisters: Sharon ("Gidget"), Kim, Pamela, Cynthia; and his brothers: Willis Jr. ("Pepper"), Dionne, Deborah, and Quincy.
He had one biological grandson, Amiri Muhammad Jr., as well as ten bonus grandchildren, whom he proudly cherished as his own. He did not treat any of them differently and loved them all deeply.
