He was born October 3, 1943 to Wilford and Juanita Jenkins in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed life on January 4, 2025. He accepted Christ at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church.  He was a member of the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam. He later received a degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. He was a devoted son, brother, grandson and uncle.

He held many different positions of service. He worked at Job Corps for many years guiding our young people to a better life.  He was also a cab driver for several years. He was always there for his family, even taking care of his mother until her death in 2007.  He knew so many people from all walks of life in the community that he befriended and built long lasting relationships until the day he died.  He was definitely well loved and will be greatly missed.

Vernon was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother (Wilford F. Jenkins, Jr.) and his brother-in-law, Leon Locke (Marchita).  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Marchita L. Locke (Leon); his niece, Philana D. Malone; his great niece, Maiya L. Malone; his great nephew, Myles J. Malone; his great-great niece, Makari D. Malone; his great-great niece, Gia A. Malone; his great-great nephew, Jrue M. Malone and host of cousins and dear friends.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned.  The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
