Vernice Thomas was born on March 7, 1938, in Castleberry, Alabama, to Arthur Kennedy, Sr. and Mirties Kennedy, beginning a life marked by purpose and devotion.

She graduated from Conecuh County High School in Evergreen, Alabama, in 1955, which set her on the path to a bright future. Vernice later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she married James Thomas and worked as a supervisor at a local warehouse until her retirement, inspiring those around her with her tireless work ethic.

Vernice was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Daily Bread and baking buttermilk pies, finding joy in life's simple pleasures. Most notably, she cherished her faith, family, and friendships, consistently offering words of wisdom and kindness that uplifted everyone who knew her.

Vernice was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas; her parents, Arthur, Sr. and Mirties Kennedy; and her siblings: Arthur Kennedy, Jr., Mirties Kennedy, David Kennedy, Thomas Kennedy, and Jive Kennedy. She is mourned by her son, Terry Thomas; granddaughter, Maridia Harper; her baby sister, Alpha Omega Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and numerous other family members and dear friends.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 2365 Compton Road, Cincinnati  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Mt. Healthy, Ohio 45231.
