Vera Marie Grace Cornist was born April 7, 1923 in Lockland, Ohio. She passed into eternity June 15, 2014. Vera was one of three children born to the late Claude Sr. and Grace Grace. Both brothers, Claude Grace Jr. and Louis Grace preceded her in death. She was born and raised in Lockland, Ohio; baptized in her youth at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; and graduated from Wayne School. In high school, she was a fashion trend setter. All the girls wanted to see what Vera was wearing. After attending Wilberforce University for a short time, Vera worked in Dayton, Ohio, then New York City before returning to Lockland. She married Henry Cornist and from this union four children were born. Vera worked for Drake Hospital for nineteen years before retiring. Vera loved spending time with family. No one walked into her house without a greeting of hugs and kisses. "Come here and give me some of that good stuff", was her common request for kisses from the little ones. She attended Burress Temple whenever her health permitted. Vera enjoyed volunteering at the Burress Temple feeding program where she served people in the  neighborhood. Vera will forever be remembered by her children; Henry Cornist Jr (Glendora), Sandra Cornist, Nelson Cornist (Valerie), Myra Cornist; grandchildren Mark Gentry, Felice Woods (Brandon), Carlsie Crutchfield (Carl), Jessica Cornist, Kara Cornist; great-grandchildren Jazzmin Cruz, JaMaria Gentry, Jasmine Moore, Jada Moore, Janiyah Moore, Deacon Cornist, Richard Moore, Dyllon Cornist, Lennox Crutchfield, Davis Crutchfield; two dear sisters in-law Jayne Grace, Katie Grace, one niece Alecia Hoyles; and a special cousin Carol Jollffe. Vera Marie Grace Cornist was a sweet woman who was loved dearly and will be profoundly missed. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Burress Temple Apostolic Church of God, 208 Locust St., Cincinnati (45215) with visitation from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
