Obituary

Vera Anderson, age 84, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born February 4, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sister Vera Anderson was born to Isaac Mosley and Addie B. Turner in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 4, 1930. She departed this life to be with our Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Her father preceded her in death at an early age so she was raised by her mom and her beloved grandmother, Ella Pirkle. They instilled the word of God in her life as they attended church regularly. Upon graduation from Withrow High School, Sis. Anderson moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she met her husband of 46 years, the late Allen Anderson. From that union, four children were born, Allen Anderson (Ella), Yvonne Kelly (Wilbur), Alonzo Anderson (Paula), and Carolyn Butler (Sigmund). In 1972, Sis. Anderson returned to Cincinnati. She purchased a home to be close to mom and grandmother again. Her home at Andina remains a legacy of many family celebrations; the most recent celebration being this past Thanksgiving dinner. In honor of her loving memories, 44 family members attended. Sis. Anderson attended Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church before she became a member at Zion Temple. She was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the pastorate of the late Bishop Jasper J. Phillips. He often called her the 'Flower Lady'. She remained a very faithful member under the present pastorate of District Elder Charles L. Smith until her health began to decline. Sis. Anderson loved arranging the flowers on the altar, she sang with the Women's Choir for a short time, and she was a dedicated member of the Usher Board. Sis. Vera Anderson was both a genuine and nurturing mom and dad to her four children. They grew up hearing her say to them: 'I don't play that 3, 6, 9.' 'You gonna be S.O.L.' 'You don't believe fat meat is greasy.' In their childhood lives, her children understood the true meanings of these real-life phrases. Sis. Anderson was employed by the General Electric Company. She retired after 27 years of outstanding service. After retirement, she helped her family intensely, especially her grandchildren. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing and cherish memories: her brother, David Lee Turner (Iean), her sister, Rosetta Byrd (johnnie), 14 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, other relatives, saints and friends. Sis. Vera Anderson was a beautiful mom, grandmother, and great- grandmother to her family. She was virtuous in her wisdom and spirit. She especially loved her 4 children, each in a unique way. Most importantly, she taught her 4 children to 'stick together' with love.
