Vanessa Van Ross, age 60, departed this earthly life on Monday, December 5, 2016, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 12, 1956, to the late Addie Mae and Otis Little Ross. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. T. L. Barron. She was educated in the Cincinnati Public Schools. Vanessa was very independent and a hard worker. She would always keep you laughing. She was known to speak what was on her mind. She was employed by Proctor and Gramble, where she worked until her health began to fail. Vanessa was a strong woman and a good friend to many. She was preceded in death by her mother, Addie Mae Ross, father, Otis L. Ross, step-father, Louis Gordon, grandson, Markel Combs, grandmother, Mattie Mae Waters, grandfather, Ivy Waters, and brother, Raymond Ross. She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted children, Larry Combs, III (fiancee; Jenny Pratt), Larresa Combs (Anthony Jynes), two grandsons, Tiance Combs and Trulance Combs; great-grandson, Markel Thomas, and one great-granddaughter; brother, Otis Ross, Jr., sisters, Carolyn Whatley, Thelma J. Watts, and Sharon Winn; aunts, Eloise Davis, Annie Pearl Parks, and Mamie Delores Waters; uncle, Gary Lee Waters. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at the Evergreen Baptist Church, 704 Gholson Avenue , Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. Interment 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Vine Street Hill Cemetery.
