Travis Bernard Minter was born March 11, 1982 to Velma Lewis Strattman and Felix Minter. Travis went to his eternal resting place on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Travis accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Elder George Johnson at Galilee Church of God In Christ, where he played drums and sung in the choir. Travis attended Pleasant Hill and Chase Elementary schools. He attended Schwab Middle Hill and Hard Elementary of Bessemer, Alabama. He also attended Aiken High School, where he played his favorite sport, basketball for their varsity team. Travis was well known to keep you laughing and uplifted, always a positive word and willing to help anyone with anything if he could. He loved his family deeply. Travis was also known as a Mama's golden boy, he was good to all kids of all ages and the most loving father to his very own. Travis was preceded in death by Aunt Janie Ward (Fred), Geraldine Lockett (Bryant) and Deloris Johnson, a nephew, Da'Shawn Wheeler; brother-in-law, Idris Cockrell Sr. A loving stepdad, Calvin Strattman and a cousin-in-law, Duane Coston. Travis is survived by his loving mother and father, his brother, Vincent Lewis, Quinton Mintor, Anthony Minter and Justin Palmer; sisters, Adrienne Minter and April Minter; four children, Journy Whitfield, Armani Minter, Sarah Benedict and Travis Benedict; 23 nieces and nephews, five great-nieces and nephews, and his friend, Beverly Benedict; a special friend, Mary Cody, and a host of family and friends. Visitation is from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Walker - Findlay Street Chapel , 930 Findlay Street, Cincinnati (45214). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. You may express online condolences at www.HerbWalker.com.
