He was preceded in death by Harold Phillips, his loving step-father. June was the older of two children. His younger sister, Clara Jean was his loving sister, a confidant and loyal life-long friend. He was so proud of his nephew, Brian and enjoyed playing with BJ, his great-nephew. June's favorite greeting was "Hey cuz and hey sis". June was born a healthy baby. When he was four or five years old he contracted rheumatic fever. The doctors didn't think he was going to make it; but June had another doctor. Though his life would be forever changed he lived a life of triumph in God. June received Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. He worshipped at Primitive Baptist and Southern Baptist Church for some time. He has been a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and served in various capacities including a deacon. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Male Chorus and sang to the Glory of God. June loved his church and eagerly waited on Sunday mornings for the church van to pick him up. He would wake up at the crack of dawn to get ready. He attended school and began working early in life. He worked at Taco Bell and Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. June played baseball in the Special Olympics. He loved music, old school R&B and gospel. He would also show off his dancing skills at family functions. His loving companion, Debbie Spears, had been in his life over twenty years. They were inseparable. Tommy "Baby June" leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life, Deborah Spears; one sister, Clara Jean Townsend Ross; one nephew, Brian D. Ross (Bonnie); one great-nephew, Brian D. Ross, Jr.; one aunt, Maria "Rabbit" McMullen; one uncle, James "Dick" Betts; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 26 W North Bend Road, Cincinnati (45216).
