Celebrating His Spirit Thomas Charles Harshaw was born on December 30, 1938, the younger of 2 children born to Robert T. and Ruby R. Harshaw. He departed his earthly life on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Thomas was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina where he accepted Christ at an early age. He moved to Cincinnati in 1956 where he would eventually meet his wife, Patricia. He and Patricia were married on April 16, 1966. Thomas started his professional career at Chenault Auto Parts and in 1958, he went to work for Cincinnati Fan and Ventilator where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. Thomas's greatest passion was gardening. He enjoyed gardening immensely and would garden anything that he could get hands on. Thomas was an avid golf player. In addition, he loved playing pool and having friendly competition amongst friends. On any given day, you could catch him talking on the phone to his best friend and brother-in-law, Calvin. In his later years, Thomas enjoyed spending time at the Indian Creek pub socializing with his friendly neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Robert T. Harshaw II. Thomas is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter Doris Vaughns, two grandchildren, Akira Vaughns Taylor and Edward Kiron Vaughns, three great grandchildren, Kiyah Vaughns, Jaleah Taylor, and Kenneth Edward Taylor, 2 sister-in –laws, Vivian (Calvin) Hood and Imogene Hood brother-in law, Albert Slaughter, nephews, Robert Lovett, Roger ( Vanessa) Lovett, and Thomas Lovett, Willie Slaughter, Clifford Slaughter Jr., Albert (Marvel) Slaughter Jr. and Sean Slaughter, nieces Deborah (Edmund) Lowe and J. Delores (Randall) Dalton and a host of great –nieces and nephews , cousins and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, November 6, 2015, at the House Of God, 131 Wayne Avenue, Cincinnati (45215).
