Sylvester 'Silky' Brownlee was the youngest of two, born to Josephine Brownlee and Ulus Brownlee on August 1, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father Ulus Brownlee and brother Oliver Brownlee preceded him in death. He answered the Master's call on Thursday, July 25, 2013 and was fortunate to have spent his last moments on earth with his family. He was educated through the Cincinnati Public School System. Sylvester enlisted into the United States Army where he served for several years. He retired from General Motors and later started Brownlee's Construction. Sylvester was an entrepreneur for over 26 years doing what he loved the most, home remodeling. His commitment to his business was unyielding and guided each step in his life. Sylvester loved his family and was very influential in their lives. He was loyal and unwavering to his mother and his girls. He loved a good party where he could have friends from all over celebrate togetherness. He possessed a rare gift of true humor and genuine love for his friends. He was a once in a lifetime kind of person who graced our world with the kind of unconditional love for his family and friends that only the most honest could exemplify - A Purity of Spirit. To rejoice in his home going, he leaves: a loving mother, Josephine Brownlee; three daughters, Jacqueline Denice May (Lee), Sylvia Nicole Brownlee and Cortnee Rowena Barnes; one son, Rick Spearman (Stacey); eight grandchildren, Ashley, Jacob, Jazz, Trey, Miles, Morgan, London and Ghalil; a host of family and loving friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 3101 Riverside Drive, Cincinnati (45226) with visitation from 3:00 p.m. until hour of service.
