IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Bentley
Hunter, Sr.
January 28, 1955 – July 10, 2025
Steven Bentley Hunter, Sr., was born on January 28, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to William Jr. and Elayne Hunter. He departed this life after a lengthy illness on July 10th, 2025.
Steve was a "Kennedy Heights Kid". He was baptized at First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights. He played knothole baseball on the RC Cola team (coached by his dad). He was part of KENSIL Sports. He loved dogs; he learned safe handling of firearms and household maintenance from his dad. He developed a love for music and learned to play the bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and piano at a young age. There was always band practice at the Hunter home. Two of his bands were 'Generation Gap Band & Show' and 'Mama's Pride Band & Show'. Steve also played locally with various artists.
Steve had a love of motorcycles and traveled the country on his bike. His work career started as a lineman at the then CG&E. At the time of his retirement in 2014, he was working in the Materials and Repair department. In addition to his work at Duke Energy, Steve served many years as Minister of Music at New Life Temple Church. There, he was instrumental in the CD release of "Don't Let the Rocks Cry Out", where he composed several songs for the project.
Later, Steve and his wife Tracey became founding members of Omega Christian Center (OCC), under Pastors Winford and Charlette Taylor, where he also served as Minister of Music. He poured into many musicians and singers over the years. Steve loved the Lord and loved serving at OCC, where the fruit of his labor yet remains.
Steve married Karen Tracey Moore on August 21st, 1993. Their union was blessed with one son, Steven Jr., and beloved dog Maxx (age 17), Steve's loyal sidekick. Sadly, Maxx, also ill, departed a few weeks prior to Steve.
Cherishing his memory are wife Karen Tracey, son Steven Jr., brother Richard Hunter Sr., (brothers preceding him in death: William-2025 and Kevin-2008) Sisters Billie Ali-Seck and Kim Hunter, great-nephew Justin Tatum Jr, nieces Ta'Mika Young, Kimber Sprawl-Crowley, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy (45231).
