Obituary

Steve Pitts was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 21, 1966 to the union of the late John Louis and Mary Lee Pitts. He departed this earthly life on Monday, December 29th, 2025 after he endured a very risky surgery. As a young child, Steve grew up in church and accepted Christ at an early age. He surrendered himself to the Most High God and found peace and clarity within himself and God.

Steve attended Withrow High School and graduated in 1984. While in school, he played football and was giving the nick name Barbeque Pitts by his teammates. He also had a great love for roller skating, swimming and arts and crafts. He enjoyed drawing and sketching pictures when he was relaxing.

Steve has a large family of fifteen brothers and sisters: Annie, Lola, Shirley, Janice, Renee, Bobby, Darlene, Cathy, Cornell, Mark, Robin and was preceded in death by his beloved brothers Johnnie and John and beloved sister Mary.

He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father and a loving friend that provided a source of strength and guidance to all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Alexis Bledsoe, Stephan Jones, and Danesha Harris. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Paige Jones. He was the grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren that he cherished dearly: Shauntie Jones, Stephan Jones Jr., and Kasahn Jones. If you referred to him by the name Stevie, Uncle Billy, Big Pitts, or Giant, one thing for certain, his name spoke volume about how great and honorable he truly was. Steve literally was everyone's favorite person to be around. Steve was definitely a social butterfly wherever he went and throughout every role he played in life. He was always   easy going and had a great big bright personality.

Steve's children described him as a gentle giant with a heart of gold and a sincere and humbling spirit.  He was a true man whose character preceded him; he was very suave, stellar and extremely charismatic.

Steve's loved one played a major role in his life as he was the twelfth born of fifteen siblings. His family meant the world to him and he was the life of the party. Steve was a natural born leader who stood out in the crowds as he made and huge impact on other people's lives. Steve deeply loved his family, children, and grandchildren. He wanted nothing but the best for each one of them. He never missed a beat; whatever his children had going on he was always there to support them every step of the way. Steve was always there in times of need to support and uplift others.  Continue to watch over us as you rest in paradise. You will always be our Gentle Giant. We love you.

Dear Pops, I don't even know where to begin. Thank you for shaping me into the man I am today. Everything I am carries a piece of you in it. Every lesson, every moment, every conversation we shared is something I will hold in my heart forever. You gave me strength when I didn't know I needed it, guidance when I was lost, and love even when words weren't spoken. The bond we built over time is unbreakable, and nothing not even death can take that away from me. You were the strongest man I've ever known and because of you, I stand strong today. I promise to live in a way that honors you, to carry your name with pride, and to make sure your legacy lives on through me. I got you, Pops- now and always. Forever your son, I love you more than words can say. Lil Steve

Dear Daddy, I can't fully express how angry, empty and lost I feel without you. Even though we didn't have all the time we wanted, I'm so grateful we found each other and built our own bond on our own terms. Thank you for being the best father you could be, for the guidance, knowledge, and love you gave me, and for believing in the woman you knew I could become.

You always told me how proud you were of me, even when I felt I wasn't doing enough. You showed me what strength and kindness looks like even in the midst of darkness. You always told me to hold my head up and stand firm in what I believe. I promise to carry out our plans, to look after my siblings, and to always move with grace and integrity. I will forever make you proud and keep your legacy alive.

Thank you for being such an amazing and inspiring parent. Thank you for coming into my life and teaching me all the things I needed to learn from my father. Thank you for loving me the way you did. Thank you for the lessons you taught without even realizing it, and for always being there in the ways that mattered most.

I will carry your love, your strength, and your memory with me for the rest of my life. Even though you're no longer here, you will always be my dad, and I will always miss you. I love you with everything within my being, daddy. You will forever live through me. Life will be different without you, Big Beaufort. I know you are always with us. I love you endlessly. Daddy, this love is forever.

~ Baby Girl Nesh

Dad, I just want to let you know that we absolutely love you beyond measure.  My life will not be the same anymore and a piece of me is gone without you here.  I also want you to know that we are all okay, Dad.  It's okay to get your rest now and watch over us from heaven.  Give Paige a kiss for me.  The two of you were taken away from us very prematurely. Although it hurts, I know that I have one more guardian angel.  I love you dad.  Always and forever your spirit will continue to live through us.
