Obituary

Stanley L. Blair, age 62, passed away June 17, 2013. Stanley Lamar Blair, a surrendered spirit, was born in Evergreen, Alabama, on September 19, 1950. Stan was sent by God to bless the life of his mother, Emma Johnson Blair, and enrich the lives of his grandparents, Mary and Eddie Johnson. Stan, a soft spoken and mild mannered man was easy to know and even easier to love. He seemed to bless the lives of everyone he encountered; he was a genuinely loved by his family. He was never far from the thoughts and prayers of his sister, Mary Jean. Stan grew up in Evergreen where he attended school and graduated from the Conecuh County Training School. While he was relative tall in stature, his body was slim; however, he had a giant desire to play football with guys often much larger. Stan had a passion for the game and gave his best to the game. As a young boy, Stan surrendered his soul to Christ at the First Baptist Church in Evergreen. He later surrendered his love to his one and only son, Stanley Lamar Woodson, who was born on September 14, 1989. In 2012, Stan left Evergreen with the intention of spending valuable time between his Ma'Dear in Buffalo, New York and his beloved sister, Mary Jean, in Cincinnati. Stan had shared thoughts of actually making Cincinnati his home. The family made plans to travel to Evergreen the weekend of June 22 for Stan and Jean's annual High School Reunion, but God had bigger and better plans for Stan. So, Stan surrendered his spirit unto his Heavenly Father and seemingly with a flash took a short cut home to be with His God. He leaves to remember and cherish his sweet spirit: mother, Emma Johnson Blair, of Buffalo, New York; son, Stanley Lamar Woodson, of Evergreen, Alabama; sister, Mary Jean(Bill) Bolton; Auntie, Thelma Ferguson; Uncle, Eddie Johnson Jr., of Buffalo, New York; Cousin, Tonya (Tommy) Harris; close friends, Johnny Ray Holmes, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Inez Blair, of Evergreen, Alabama; a plethora of cousins, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Stanley was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Ann Blair. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 24 at WALKER FUNERAL HOME - WALNUT HILLS CHAPEL, 1025 E. McMillan Street (45206) with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until hour of service. Interment Vine Street Cemetery.
