The word “foundation” has many meanings; the one that describes Stanley is “Starting Point”. Stanley was the first son born in 1969 to Stanley James Allen Sr. and Armenta Allen, both of whom preceded him in death, and the first nephew to their siblings. The first Brother to Nathan Allen in 1972, followed by Latonja and Shawauna. The first uncle in 1997 to Marcus Lee Allen. The first enduring romantic love to Lucana Walker in 1998. A first-time father in 2001 to Jaevon Allen, and then a first Grand Uncle in 2016 to Anthony M. Banks, “Lil Ant-Ant”. He shared his life, laughter, and love with many others, but these were his firsts. Another definition for “foundation” is the base of a structure. As you reflect on Stanley, “Lil Stan”, “Sugarman”, “Nephew”, “Big-bro”, or “Uncle”, stand firm on your foundation.

Stanley James Allen, Jr. passed away on September 2nd, 2026, at the age of 57 after a long, courageous battle with illness. Stan was a lot of things, but perfect wasn’t one of them. Stan had a joke for nearly any occasion and a “one-liner” for any challengers. His ability to find humor and share it brought him joy. He loved his family, close and abroad. He could be kind, forgiving, and empathetic. He grew up knowing the importance of family and the sadness in losing them. To honor Stan’s life, we ask that you honor the lives you touch through kindness, forgiveness, and empathy.

Stanley found pleasure in life through technology & entertainment. Movies, shows, music, and small electronics were peppered throughout Stans’ life. As a youth, Stan would modify and customize electronics, stereos, televisions, and radios. Stan always had a movie or Character he could reference in a life situation that made it funny or insightful.

Stanley found pleasure in life as an active member of The Butts Family Foundation, helping to identify less fortunate families and getting them fed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. As a child, Stan attended New Prospect Baptist Church with his mom. Stan attended John B. Peaslee School, Louis Schwab Jr. High School, and then went on to be an Aiken Falcon. Stanley enjoyed his work at Queen City Barrel and the Cincinnati Zoo and the people he worked with until his illness. We may not have been ready for Stan to go, but God was ready for him to arrive.

Stanley James Allen Jr. was also preceded in death by his sister, Shawauna Allen; aunt/2nd mom, Wanda Nell Butts; aunt Juliette Butts; and uncle Julius Butts.

Stan leaves to cherish his memory his life's love, Lucana; son, Jaevon; siblings, Nathan and Latonja; aunts, Betty Swan and "Baby Auntie" Arnetta Butts; 1st uncle, Marvin G. Butts; uncle-brother, Lamont Butts; and cousin-brother, Craig Butts. He also leaves to cherish his memory his step-siblings, Dawn and Juan; nieces, Veronica and Fantasia; nephews, Marcus, Sayvon, and Shavell; along with a whole host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family and friends.
