On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Sophia L. Green (Cravens) received a call from the Lord and peacefully answered His invitation to eternal rest. While her heart was not ready to leave, her soul could not decline His call.

Born on October 24, 1964, Sophia lived a private life marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, compassion, and dedication to those around her. Affectionately known as "Sophie" , “Phia “ and "Nanny" by family and friends, she was a hardworking woman who took pride in everything she did and carried herself with grace and determination throughout life's many seasons.

Sophia found peace in solitude and great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, who were among the greatest blessings of her life. One of the many ways she expressed her love was through cooking and baking, always preparing delicious meals and sweet treats for those she cherished most. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, warmth, and togetherness.

A natural caregiver, Sophia dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked as a State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA) at Bayley Place Nursing Home from 2006 until 2023, where she became known for her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit. Following her time there, she continued her calling at Mt. Healthy Christian Village, where she faithfully served until she was no longer physically able. Her coworkers, residents, and their families often spoke of her kindness, warmth, and the genuine love she showed to every person entrusted to her care.

Although Sophia lived a private life, her compassionate heart and quiet generosity left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly, yet she was also firm and steadfast, always wanting the very best for those she loved.

Sophia also treasured her beloved cats, Pebbles and Fiona, whom she considered family. After the loss of her cherished companions, Happy and Scrappy, she longed once again for that special bond and companionship only they could provide. From then on, she always kept a pair of cats by her side, finding comfort, peace, and unconditional love in their presence.

Sophia shared a particularly close bond with her cousins Roberta and Tammy, her Aunt Clarice, and her niece Shantae. One of her greatest wishes was for her grandchildren to know and spend time with their entire family, building lifelong relationships and creating cherished memories together.

Sophia was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Cravens Jr.; her brother, Charles Cravens III; and her sisters, Lisa Cravens and Charlene Booker.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved and only son, Sandy Cravens; her cherished grandchildren, Santia Cravens, Saniah Cravens, and Santana Cravens; her loving mother, Maddie Cravens; her dear aunt, Clarice Bradshaw; her beloved cousins, Roberta Stuart, Tammy Bradshaw, Ronnell Cravens, and Perry Cravens; her great-niece and great-nephew, Shantae Cravens and Antonio Cravens; her daughter in law Niesha Cravens , and she also treasured fur babies, Pebbles and Fiona; along with a host of extended family members, friends, coworkers, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and love.

Sophia's legacy lives on through the comfort she provided, the meals she prepared, the lives she touched, and the unconditional love she shared so freely with others. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit remains present in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
