IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shurdell Lee
Taylor
July 23, 1971 – November 7, 2025
Shurdell Lee Taylor was born on July 23, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gilda Taylor-Bishop and James Bishop, who both preceded him in death. He was the oldest of ten children and the first grandchild to the Taylor Family. Shurdell departed this life peacefully on November 7, 2025.
Shurdell also known as "Shurdy" grew up in Corryville under the God-fearing home of his grandparents, John and Ruth Taylor. He attended Merry Middle School, then went on to Hughes High School where he met his close friends, Dez and Ralph. While he stayed in close contact with them, he went on to Western Hills High School where he graduated in 1990. Back in day, Shurdy was an avid comic book collector. He owned an immense number of comics ranging from superhero to humor to non-fiction. While he spent many years enjoying his comics, his greatest accomplishment was becoming a professional wrestler. He appeared on national TV in an official match against Jake the Snake. After that he became a household name in the wrestling world. You couldn't convince him he wasn't a big-time celebrity. Several years later, Shurdy went on to pursue a career in Security. He worked at several bars and restaurants in the Corryville and downtown communities. He gained much respect with his solid physique and calm spirit that he became known as the gentle giant. In 2023, he joined the team at Clifton Market where he started as a Doorman and moved to a Cashier. He enjoyed a good conversation about comics and old movies. Let's not forget he could put away a few cold ones while debating about politics with his brother and roommate, Demont (Ed). Their close relationship was to be admired.
Shurdell leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings Demont Taylor, Everick Taylor, Damion Taylor, Sr., Maria Allen, Tyra Taylor, Tamla Taylor, Tanja Taylor (Pierre), Teia Davis (Brandon), Tiara Taylor and Tenles Taylor; twenty-three nieces and nephews: Deja, Damion Jr., JayShawn, Jada, Jaimaya, Shaynia, Ahmya, Monoleto Jr., Monoleto III, Mylisha, Braydon, Amari, Ameccah, Pierre Jr., Alexis, Anyla, Aaliyah, Perry, Adore, Serenity, Brandon Jr., Deven Jr. and Ashton; four great-nieces and nephews: Giovanni, Dior, Na'Vae and Gunner; six aunts: Saadia Pegg, Tammy Hill (Tyrone), Tasha Middlebrooks (Sean), Carolyn Hummons (Dwight), Ayishah Munir and Barbara Sang; three uncles: Joseph Taylor (Brenda), Garry Taylor (Karen), Johnny Taylor and Holbert Bishop, Jr, who preceded him in death; and an abundance of loving cousins and extended family and friends.
